Terms of Service

1. Who we are

Renovator.kiwi is operated by Renovator Kiwi Limited (“Renovator.kiwi,” “we,” “us,” “our”), a company registered in New Zealand (NZBN: 9429053878830). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the website renovator.kiwi (the “Platform”) and the services we provide through it.

By registering as a tradesperson, posting a job as a customer, or otherwise using the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Platform.

2. What Renovator.kiwi is — and isn't

Renovator.kiwi is a listing and introduction platform. We connect homeowners and businesses (“Customers”) who need trade work done with tradespeople (“Tradespeople”) who offer relevant services in New Zealand.

We are not:

• A party to any agreement, contract, or transaction between a Customer and a Tradesperson
• An employer, agent, or representative of any Tradesperson
• A guarantor of the quality, safety, legality, licensing, insurance, or outcome of any work performed
• Responsible for verifying every claim made by a Tradesperson or Customer, beyond the review steps described in Section 4

All agreements, quotes, pricing, workmanship, and disputes relating to any job are strictly between the Customer and the Tradesperson.

3. Registration and fees

Customers:

• Posting a job is completely free. There are no fees, no subscriptions, and no commission taken on the job itself.
• Your job listing is published after a short review, usually within 1–2 business days.
• Posting a job does not guarantee that any Tradesperson will contact you, nor does it guarantee the accuracy of any quote you receive.

Tradespeople:

• Registering a trade profile requires payment of NZ$57.50 (incl. GST) per year, processed securely via Stripe.
• Registration does not guarantee leads, job matches, or income of any kind.
• Your registration must be renewed annually to remain active on the Platform.

4. Verification and review

We review Tradesperson registrations before they go live, which may include checking the information you provide (such as trade category, service area, and any qualification or registration numbers you supply). This review is a basic reasonableness check — it is not a guarantee of a Tradesperson's licensing, insurance, qualifications, or quality of work. Customers are responsible for satisfying themselves (e.g. checking Licensed Building Practitioner status, trade certification, or insurance) before engaging any Tradesperson.

5. Refunds

All fees paid to Renovator.kiwi are non-refundable. This includes tradesperson registration fees, regardless of whether a Tradesperson contacts a Customer, a Customer responds to a Tradesperson, or any job results from a listing. Posting a job is free and involves no payment.

By registering or posting a job, you acknowledge that Renovator.kiwi is a listing and introduction service only (see Section 2), and that any payment is for the publication of your tradesperson profile, not for any guaranteed outcome.

If we fail to publish your listing/profile due to an error on our part, we will either fix the issue promptly or provide a refund at our discretion.

6. Payment Verification and Misuse

Each Stripe payment confirmation reference (including receipt numbers and checkout email addresses) is valid for a single registration only. By submitting a payment reference, you confirm that it relates to a payment made by you for that specific registration.

Renovator Kiwi Limited reserves the right to verify payment references against Stripe payment records. Any attempt to reuse, duplicate, share, or falsify a payment reference across multiple accounts, registrations, or job postings will be treated as a breach of these Terms and may result in:

• Immediate suspension or termination of the associated account(s) and listing(s); and
• No entitlement to a refund, in whole or in part.

Renovator Kiwi Limited's decision on whether a payment reference has been misused is final.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Post false, misleading, or fraudulent information in a job listing or trade profile
• Use the Platform to solicit, advertise, or conduct business unrelated to legitimate trade/home improvement work
• Attempt to circumvent, scrape, or misuse the Platform's registration or contact-gating features
• Harass, threaten, or behave unlawfully toward another user contacted through the Platform

We may remove any listing or suspend any account that breaches these Terms, at our discretion.

8. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Renovator.kiwi is not liable for any loss, damage, dispute, or claim arising from:

• Work performed (or not performed) by a Tradesperson
• Any agreement, quote, or payment arrangement made between a Customer and a Tradesperson
• Inaccurate information provided by a Customer or Tradesperson
• Any indirect, consequential, or incidental loss arising from use of the Platform

Nothing in these Terms excludes any right or remedy you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 that cannot lawfully be excluded.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
